The Database Engineer will designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software. Conducts analysis and collaborates with subject matter experts in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for information storage, processing, presentation, manipulation, display, or reporting. End product may be special use, customized, or commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applications, web applications, scripts, and utility programs. Ensures software standards are met.
EDMS consists of several customized applications based on Oracle database and IBM’s FileNet. This application is housed with the current customer’s data center, but may someday be migrated to a cloud application. The repository currently houses over 2 million documents and contains over a Terabyte of data, time, and historical data about call, email, and web activities. The provided repository shall be capable of transmitting the above information to a standards based external database using SQL, Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), and/or Open Database Connectivity (ODMC) interfaces.
Effectively manage the customer’s Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) in order to provide maximum stability, availability, security, and reliability. Task requires extensive database skills and experience to ensure prompt support of all customer database needs. This engineer must be able use Government Furnished Information (GFI) tools to support;
Maintain databases and its content (SQL)
Databases on .gov websites
Maintain a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) database
Assist cybersecurity operations with data loss prevention, database encryption, etc.
Support customized applications based on Oracle and IBM’s FileNet
Support database supporting online collection of digitized information
Support usage of JDBC & ODBC interfaces
Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years of experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more of experience.
Experience in SQL
Experience in Oracle
Experience using Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), and/or Open Database Connectivity (ODMC).
Must reside in the DC Metro Area
