Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals in El Segundo, CA who assist the US Air Force in developing and deploying the next generation of satellites and ground systems for missile warning (MW) and space-based environmental monitoring (SBEM). These systems alert senior military officials when missile launches occur around the globe, as well as enable global naval vessel and troop movements by providing mission-critical weather data to ensure safe passage. Our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team has an immediate need for a Ground Systems Engineer with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) ground systems. Candidate will provide critical ground systems engineering and integration expertise in support of the Space and Missile Systems Center’s (SMC) SBEM and MW programs. This individual will provide support to development of a service-based future ground open architecture framework that enables the delivery of Future Operational Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) and SBEM mission capabilities. Candidate should have experience with system acquisition, systems engineering lifecycle, architecture, operations concepts, requirements and interface development and maturation for space and ground systems. Major duties of the position include:
Ensuring effective integration of space, ground, operations, and data exploitation activities and products; hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations across the SMC Enterprise.
Coordinating ground integration requirements for program of record, future ground, and acquisition planning elements across the SMC Enterprise.
Applying lessons learned from managing similar open system architecture ground system efforts to ensure successful planning, development, production, transition to operations, and sustainment of multiple ground system efforts.
Providing architecture, operations concept, requirements and interface control documentation support for space and ground systems from early acquisition through operations and sustainment.
Evaluating contractor architectures, operations concepts, specifications and interface products for completeness and suitability.
Managing interdependencies, identifying disconnects between current and future architectures, requirements and interfaces, conducting system trades to resolve interface issues
Collaborating with prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force.
