SAIC is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer to join the National Security Customer Group (NSCG) in our Chantilly, VA office.  NSCG provides specialized engineering, analysis, and operations support to a variety of US Government (USG) customers.  We support the generation after next of national security-related systems based in space, in the air, and on the ground.

 

The NSCG has an opening for an engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services to an IC research and development (R&D) customer.  The customer is developing the next generation hardware, software, and architectural solutions for the IC.  Position provides direct support to the Director’s Innovation Initiative (DII) which invests in cutting-edge technologies and concepts across the United States with a focus on non-traditional commercial developers via an annual source selection.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical review and assessment of high-payoff technology development and readiness activities; craft technology transition plans

  • Provide support to acquisition, programmatic, and source selection processes to include budget, schedule, contract, and security actions; define requirements and specifications; support engineering change proposal preparation

  • Design and maintain outreach information via multiple communication methods including:  print, electronic, and interactive media; coordinate with organizational stakeholders

  • Prepare and exhibit at technical conferences
  • Develop documents and briefings to communicate program/project status and brief government as required

  • Perform data management and SharePoint content management duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience; strong desire to learn new technologies and practical applications

  • 9 years experience with 5 years of IC engineering, project management or program office experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective writing and briefing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and energetic environment

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications and SharePoint

  • Current TS/SCI clearance w/Poly

Desired Qualifications

 
  • Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or related discipline

  • 15 years of experience with USG R&D acquisition lifecycle, processes, and documentation

  • Technical experience with spacecraft or ground engineering and operations
