SAIC is seeking a Satellite Communications Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the
Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight
candidates will serve as the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Flight
Operations RF Communications Subsystem Engineer. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation
program that acquires and distributes global environmental data
primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a
critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in
weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which
support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.
- Support the Mission Operations Support Team (MOST) in
development of ground/spacecraft pre-launch processes and
- Interact with the government spacecraft subject matter
experts (SME) as well as vendor SMEs to understand the RF Comm and Command
and Data Handling (C&DH) spacecraft subsystems. Interact with MOST
Spacecraft/Instrument Systems Engineers to understand the overall mission
- Develop and test command procedures, telemetry pages,
and other products derived from vendor provided documentation that will be
used to operate the RF Comm and Command and Data Handling (C&DH)
- Develop test procedures and test execution for system
level, end-to-end tests with the spacecraft.
- Support mission readiness activities including mission
rehearsals, mission timeline development, and post launch test
- Support launch, including shift work, for instrument
and spacecraft LEO&A activities. Identify and trouble shoot problems
with the RF Comm and C&DH subsystems as well as all spacecraft
subsystems as anomaly resolution teams require.
Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree and 5 years related experience.
- Must be able to support 24/7 in 12 hour shifts during
Operational exercises and Launch and Early Orbit.
- Satellite operations experience
- MS office skills
- Previous experience/proficiency with tools/languages
such as STK, MATLAB, ECLIPSE, CECIL, and Perl
- Experience with prelaunch campaigns and launch and
early orbit operations
