The Configuration Manager is responsible for product design changes and the effects of the overall system. Assist in documenting and tracking all aspects of system development and modifications. Ensures configuration identification by reviewing design release documents for completeness and proper authorizations. Prepares deviations and waivers for government approval when specifications cannot be met. Reviews all issued document change requests, document change notices and associated drawings for accuracy, completeness and proper signatures. May structure and maintain databases. Submits engineering changes to customers for review and approval; maintains records and submit reports regarding status. Prepares configuration verification audit record sheets for all programs.
Configuration Management (CM) is the process of identifying all components and their relationships in a continually evolving system, taking into account relevant system interfaces, for the purpose of maintaining integrity, traceability, and control over change throughout the lifecycle. It is a disciplined process of technical and administrative direction for the identification and documentation of a system’s functional and physical design requirements; the management of subsequent changes; and the verification of successful requirement implementation. Will provide Configuration Management support services, including the collection of processes and tools that promote consistency, track and control change, and provide up to date documentation.
Roles and Responsibilities;
Review, maintain, and execute configuration management plans, policies, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with federal mandates, NIST guidance, FISMA requirements, and Commission policies.
Initiate, control, track, and audit changes, deviations, and waivers according to current customer approved policies and procedures.
Develop, review, and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB), which is a central repository of hardware, and software configuration items.
Manage the Commission Configuration Change Request (CRQ) process for implementing changes.
Recommend improvements to the CRQ Process in order to promote improved business functionality and overall efficiency.
Monitor and audit configuration changes to hardware and software to confirm that configuration management records and configuration items are complete, consistent, accurate, and ensure compliance with approved configuration baseline.
Ensure all implementations of IT investments or requests are in compliance with the customer SDLC.
Develop, review, and audit configurations for network and computing devices to ensure that they meet federal hardening standards adopted by the Commission.
Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years of experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more of experience.
Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and/or Visual Source Safe (VSS).
Experience with Remedy.
Experience with coordinating project Configuration Management processes and activities with internal and external organizations.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust; Must be a US Citizen
Must reside in the DC Metro Area
Prior experience in government commissions a plus.
Experience with TROUX and/or Sunflower would be helpful.
