Job Description


The Defense Systems Group of SAIC is currently seeking an OCONUS Network Engineer to support its Force Protection operations in the Southwest Asia.


The candidate will provide systems engineering, networking and cybersecurity support to Force Protection programs and capabilities fielded and sustained OCONUS. Support the network and software management of Full Motion Video (FMV)/Microwave Line of Sight (MLoS) Systems. Provide network architecture, software, and information assurance/cyber security support of the FMV/MLoS systems. Configuring and testing software installations, troubleshooting and verification of connectivity across platforms is required. Support configuration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of wired and wireless networks that provide sensor connectivity and tactical network backhaul to command posts. Provide analysis and feedback on technology under consideration for deployment. Provide technical expertise in the management of information-related risks in enterprise architectures and test and evaluation. Assist with information assurance certification and accreditation. Assist in applying appropriate safeguards ensuring fielded information systems and networks are defended to maintain integrity, availability, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation. May evaluate new technology. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as point-to-point radios, encoders, decoders, switches, routers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee’s job content. Requires in-depth customer interaction with military units on the ground during site visits. Must possess on the spot personal decision making skills. The candidate will also be required to assist with the movement of repair parts from storage sites to the FOB.


REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s and 2+ years of network engineer experience required. IAT Level III certification.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Must possess network installation and troubleshooting skills. Must have 6-8 years of direct experience in areas of planning, installing and maintaining network equipment (i.e., MLoS point-to-point radios, encoders, decoders, switches, uninterrupted power sources). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Must meet DoD Height/Weight standards. Must currently possess a SECRET security clearance. Must satisfactorily complete CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements, including medical and dental requirements prior to deployment. Must be willing to live and work in austere, hostile environment for extended periods of time.
