SAIC has a job opening for a Modeling and Simulation Engineer for Missile Defense Simulations

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

 

Candidate will be expected to support the customer in a fast paced environment with simulation-driven assessments and products. He/She will participate on multidisciplinary study teams and perform the following activities: study planning; model setup and execution; data extraction and analysis. He/She will develop scientific simulations and data processing tools.

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university in engineering, physical science, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or other STEM fields is required.

 

Required Skills/Experience:

             US Citizenship is required

             Familiarity with computer programming

 

Desired Skills/Experience:

             A programming background with MATLAB, C++ or Fortran would be a plus.

             Knowledge of Linux/Unix commands would be helpful.

             Knowledge/course work of radar, signal processing, control theory, and/or optics

             Knowledge of physics, random variables, and Monte Carlo theory

 

Security Clearance Requirements:

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance is required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Plans and executes modeling and simulation systems development projects. Possesses and applies knowledge about simulation methods for analysis of complex human-machine systems and training. Designs and develops simulation systems and modeling of simulation objects. Duties may include performing analysis applying appropriate scientific and engineering processes and modeling techniques to the life-cycle development of systems; performing analysis and trade-off studies related to operational issues, and reviewing test plans to ensure MOEs address operational requirements using modeling and simulation tools and techniques; reviewing plans for system integration, operation, and maintenance and assisting in the development of training for operational personnel. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives. Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. IMPACT: Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources. LIASON: Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational andoutside customer contacts on routine matters.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience
