Seeking an Avionics Systems Architect to support our PMA 209 customer.
The successful candidate will be working in a systems architecture team.
The team is working on behalf of the Government customer, ensuring that contracted industry develop and deliver a novel software architecture implementation of an avionics mission systems product and integration with both the current fleet aircraft and future platforms.
The role requires technical oversight and direction to industry to ensure the stakeholder requirements are met.
The position is responsible for performing the necessary functions and should possess demonstrated understanding of:
Hardware, Software and Logical systems specification: Understand how to identify and express the system requirements for Hardware, Software and Logical architectures.
Hardware, Software and Logical systems integration: Experience with the integration of Hardware, Software and Logical systems. Understand the challenges related to functional and non-functional aspects of system integration, test, certification and flight.
System of Systems: Understand how military capability can be achieved/enhanced through systems of systems engineering. Understand the real-world technical, programmatic and political challenges associated with this approach.
Families of Systems/Product Line Engineering: Understand the benefits of FoS/PLE and its application. Understand the overhead associated with managing such an approach.
System Functional Decomposition: Understand how to derive and define system functions from Operational and Business requirements. Understand how non-functional considerations can impact and shape the functional architecture.
Service-Oriented Systems: Understand the benefits and application of interfaces based upon services, management of services. Understand how to manage scalability of the system architecture through service specification and implementation.
Modular/Component-Based Systems: Understand component granularity and its impacts upon business, technical and process aspects. Understand modular assurance and accreditation strategies and small-footprint change impact.
System Through-life Engineering: Understand the business, technical and doctrinal aspects related to requirements, development, into service, upgrade and maintenance of military systems.
System Automation: Understand the considerations associated with implementation of highly automated systems. Understand how to capture and express automation requirements and technical strategy associated with their implementation, ranging from full pilot control to full automation.
Model-based Systems Engineering: Understand the application and benefits of MBSE to system architecting, considerations when using MBSE for military avionics systems.
Minimum Educational Requirement:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or Computer Science. A BS degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
At least ten (10) years of experience in an Engineering/Science Field is required. Six (6) of those ten (10) years working with NAVAIR avionics systems is preferred.
