Information Technology systems-administration activities in support of the NASA Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract II (SMAEC II) in Houston, TX.

Primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide Systems Administrators support with the day-to-day operations of the server infrastructure used to support the Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Directorate at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). 

The position involves having skills related to installing, configuring and maintaining Windows server hardware and software, and keeping servers on-line and fully functional at all times.  Position also involves providing systems administration to support servers that host applications with web-based interfaces and associated databases.  Candidate will assist in implementing IT-security safeguards for protecting S&MA data and systems.  Position involves working closely with application-development teams, providing the server administration support needed for development, testing and production environments.  Candidate will also assist in providing day-to-day desktop/laptop support, working with end users to assess technical issues and implement solutions, and obtaining assistance from additional service providers when appropriate.  Candidate must be able to work with little instructions on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments, and must be able to develop and maintain personal work plans and schedules.  Candidate must also possess solid verbal and written communication skills and interact effectively with all levels of personnel.  The ability to work closely with others in a team environment is highly required




  • BS degree (4 years experience in lieu of) and 2 years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of: Microsoft Server 2012+, CentOS, Debian, VMware, ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter, BigFix Domain Group Policy Management


  • Working knowledge of: RedHat Linux, Basic IPv4 and IPv6 network infrastructure, Federal Security Guidelines and configurations. USGCB, NIST, CIS, and others and Disaster Recovery
