SAIC, in support of the Remote Sensing (RS) Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team in Boulder, CO, has an immediate need for a Lead Engineer. This individual will be a Senior Systems Engineer with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) Space-Based systems with extensive knowledge and experience in space/ground system architecture development, integration of technology into existing and future space/ground systems of record, and transition of concepts to operational warfighting capabilities. Candidate will provide SE&I support to the Space and Missile Center (SMC) RS Directorate’s Tools, Applications and Processing Laboratory in Boulder, CO, and integration support to the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Battlespace Awareness Center at Buckley AFB, CO. Major duties of the position include:

  • Interfacing with a wide range of customers and stakeholders at various levels on a daily basis to support the analysis of OPIR data exploitation opportunities, development of potential solutions, and preparation of integration-related plans, briefings, papers, and other documentation in support of SMC/RS decision making
  • Supporting system engineering and integration planning for SMC/RS future ground, hardware, software, and application development
  • Analyzing / decomposing high-level strategic roadmaps & integrating into actionable program plans
  • Developing transition, integration and operations strategies and technical implementation of future ground system and application development
  • Analyzing transition to operations plans and supporting transition reviews
  • Interacting with contractor and government leads to ensure that system and interface requirements are consistent with data exploitation program activities
  • Coordinating and executing integration activities including hardware, software, cybersecurity and network upgrades
  • Provide technical mentorship for current and future employees

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. BS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Communications Engineering (technical), or similar
  • Top Secret with Current SSBI required
  • 15+ years of strong demonstrated system engineering experience with space, ground, operations and sustainment segments of a DoD program
  • Proven ability to provide technical analyses, program management insight and thought leadership to a government customer
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), project integration, schedule analysis and stakeholder processes
  • Broad knowledge and experience in Space systems (especially at SMC), OPIR systems, ground and space system acquisition, and system engineering processes
  • Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment

Desired Qualifications

 
  • OPIR operations experience highly desired
  • Knowledge of Agile processes (e.g., SAFe)
  • Master’s Degree highly desired
