Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
SAIC provides systems engineering technical advisory services as part of a multi-command, multi-contractor team with responsibility for defining and integrating upgrade increments. SAIC provides flight test data analysis, system performance analysis, 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation capability, and numerous other system performance prediction and analysis. Put your years of experience into a future of excellence as you shape the future ICBM weapon system through requirements analysis and definition and the analysis of proposed system performance.

Roles and Responsibilities (including some or all of the following):
  • System design, analysis, modeling, and simulation
  • Flight system performance analysis including nonlinear modeling, digital control, and system effectiveness analysis
  • IMU performance evaluation
  • Guidance analysis and evaluation of guidance implementation for both endo and exo-atmospheric phases of flight
  • Covariance performance analysis
  • Navigation system error analysis
  • Customer advising and assistance
  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed
  • Using results of modeling and simulations to predict performance
  • Updating of models based on designs, test results, and other data
  • Statistical analysis to quantify effect of individual errors on system accuracy


  • BS in engineering, physics or related degree and 5+ years engineering experience with complex systems engineering or MS in engineering, physics or related degree and 3+ years engineering experience with complex systems engineering
  • 5+ years' experience with system simulation and software engineering processes (e.g., requirements development for new subsystem, requirements analysis and management, design development and review, configuration management, interface control)
  • 5+ years system simulation and/or data analysis of airborne flight systems or equivalent
  • Experience with statistical analysis of test and simulation results using tools such as MATLAB
  • Experience in at least one of the following: 
  • control systems engineering, dynamic six degree of freedom modeling and simulation, launch vehicle analysis, navigation systems.  Preference given to multiple skills
  • Must have demonstrated presentation skills and experience interfacing with customer
  • Position requires a proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible engineer with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have a active/current Secret security clearance 

Desired Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in engineering or physics
  • Prior ICBM weapon system experience
  • Understanding of missile engineering disciplines including aerodynamics and structural dynamics

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Kalman Filtering, software development, Linux scripting, makefiles, Python, revision control systems
