Job Description


This contract position is a member of a SharePoint team that supports an independent agency of the United States government. The team operates within the agency’s Information Technology Infrastructure Operations Department (ITIOD). The role specializes in custom client-side development and scripting (JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, CSS), no prior SharePoint Experience is required. This is a great opportunity for a strong web developer to enter the SharePoint / Microsoft 0365 development space.

The agency makes primary use of the Office 365 Government Community Cloud and SharePoint Online. The agency has approximately 2,300 end users.

Primary Responsibilities

Work within the SharePoint team and with business sponsors and stakeholders to conceive, design, develop, test, implement, and support SharePoint solutions:

·        Manage and track assignments within the team’s development Sprints to successful completion

·        Gather, document, circulate for review, and revise solution requirements

·        Create solution design documentation and solution patterns that can be reused by others

·        Create efficient SharePoint solutions

·        Conduct group and individual user training for newly implemented and modified solutions

·        Troubleshoot and enhance pre-existing solutions developed by yourself or others

·        Maintain solution requirements, design, and usage documentation along with procedural work instructions

·        Provide Tier-2 support for SharePoint related tickets

Secondary Responsibilities

·        Assist with the promotion of SharePoint within the agency

·        Assist in the development of content management best practices and governance

·        Provide end user support for SharePoint sites and solutions

·        Assist in the development of SharePoint end-user training materials

·        Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance activities

·        Develop, implement, and manage a taxonomy for content storage and retrieval- working with business users and stakeholders


Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

Required Skills

  • ·    Strong client-side / front-end development skills with at least 5 years of experience in JavaScript/jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, XML, XSL/XSLT
  • ·    Experience developing responsive web-based applications and web sites using Bootstrap or similar libraries/frameworksThe ability to write clean, concise, well commented code
  • ·    Experience developing user friendly UI/UX designs
  • ·    Strong understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAXStrong understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • ·    Experience with consuming web services using the REST API
  • ·    Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • ·    Experience in evaluating current business processes and determining technical solutions
  • ·    Good communicator with ability to explain complex concepts in plain language, generate enthusiasm, and communicate with all levels of management and staff
  • ·    Client oriented and have good customer care skills, understanding clients' needs and concerns
  • ·    Attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error free deliverables
  • ·    Successfully manage multiple tasks involving planned projects and ad-hoc tasks
  • ·    Be motivated, independent and self-sufficient, able to see tasks through to completion with minimal supervision

Desired Skills

·        Familiarity with SharePoint 2013, 2016, 2019, or SharePoint Online

·        Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, Knockout, or React

·        Experience in developing single page applications

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience

·        Knowledge of image authoring tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image

·        Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as {{Git / Mercurial / SVN}}

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
