professionals to provide technical management and support services that will
assist in delivering effective, consistent and timely project management
execution throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). SAIC is
seeking a Senior Security Expert to support project
management activities across a broad spectrum of Office of Information &
Technology (OI&T) projects.
Duties to include:
- Work with VA customers, technical
experts and project teams to provide Assessment & Authorization
(A&A) support that primarily addresses software, hardware, firmware
and data security measures.
- Utilize the National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and VA standards for documenting
security controls, assessment criteria and system compliance.
- Create or update existing security
documentation required to obtain or maintain a system’s Authority to
Operate (ATO) (e.g., Privacy Threshold Assessment (PTA), Privacy Impact
Assessment (PIA), Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), Information Security Contingency
Plan (ISCP), Incident Response Plan (IRP), etc.)
- Analyze and interpret
governmental policies, directives and instructions that impact VA’s
Information Assurance program.
- Assist VA project managers
with the development of high quality responses to internal and external
- Facilitate meetings with VA employees
and capture meeting minutes.
Work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Computer
Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline with
at least 10 years of work experience in relevant related field(s).
- Note that 8 years of
work experience may be substituted in lieu of undergraduate degree.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and Information
Technology security principles, concepts, policy and regulations.
- Able to identify risks in security systems and work
with technical experts to resolve security issues.
- Able to identify key concepts, factors and risks based
on conversations and document these in clear and concise narrative or
- Comfort acting in a trusted advisor, objective
third-party capacity to federal clients, providing consultative services
and thought leadership.
- Ability to work independently, requiring limited
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate a high degree of
organization in order to support multiple concurrent projects.
Microsoft Office suite of tools and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Experience supporting VA projects obtain or maintain an

controls and assessment criteria.
Knowledge of and success performing in a role within a Project Management Office for large programs in the federal government environment.
