Job Description


SAIC is looking for an experienced IT System Administrator for support of Mission work in Albuquerque with the ability to travel to remote locations to support classified and unclassified activities.  The ability to work independently is paramount for success in this position.



  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Manage desktops, servers, network and technology tools
  • Set up accounts, workstations and servers
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to mission and security requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure compliance with all security requirements
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Upgrade systems as directed



Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) or more years of relevant experience or four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of degree
  • 3 years of experience as a Windows System Administrator (server, desktop and networking responsibilities)
  • 3 years of experience of procuring, installing, configuring and operating secure systems in accordance with approved security plans
  • 3 years of experience with data backup and recovery systems
  • 3 years of direct IT customer support experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written – writhing samples may be requested)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Ability to work in teams or independently
  • Proven experience working with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users (scientist, facilities, technicians and etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (the expected travel is not this high, but mission may require this amount of travel)
  • Current DOE L clearance (or equivalent) to start

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with the SNL computing environment
  • Basic to intermediate LINUX OS support experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Professional certification (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA))
  • Current DOE Q (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in remote environments
