Description

SAIC is seeking a Sybase DBA to be a member of a team of DBA's providing on-site customer support. Candidate is expected to perform limited troubleshooting, administration, monitoring, tuning, and operations functions on Sybase databases for mission critical application for a federal government agency. Should be able to understand database technology concepts, be able to ask good questions, and work well with vendors, SME's, engineers, management and customers. Good communication skills are important including an ability to explain database concepts to lower levels of system users and management.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide real time support to maintain the necessary functionality and respond to issues as they arise for Sybase.
  • Provide general Database Administration for the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise Administrator and Replication Server Administrator.
  • Operate, maintain, backup, and recover Sybase objects.
  • Support technical users.
  • Provide general administration for database including the following: install, configure, start/stop, upgrade, monitor, and manage.
  • Administer security procedures.
  • Able to work successfully in a fast-paced operations and development environment.

Qualifications

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide real time support to maintain the necessary functionality and respond to issues as they arise for Sybase.
  • Provide general Database Administration for the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise Administrator and Replication Server Administrator.
  • Operate, maintain, backup, and recover Sybase objects.
  • Support technical users.
  • Provide general administration for database including the following: install, configure, start/stop, upgrade, monitor, and manage.
  • Administer security procedures.
  • Able to work successfully in a fast-paced operations and development environment.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors in a related discipline and 0 years related experience or an Associate degree in computer related studies or equivalent technical field and 2 additional years of relevant experience. 4 additional years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.  
  • 1+ years of professional experience in Sybase preferred.
  • Experience in production environments.
  • Knowledge of triggers, stored procedures, and some third party tools.
  • Sybase certifications or other relevant certifications is a plus.
  • US Citizen – No dual citizenship.
  • Possess a SECRET clearance or have the ability to obtain one. Must have at least an interim SECRET to begin work on the contract. SAIC will process the required clearance for the qualified candidate.
  • Must be CompTIA Security+ certified prior to beginning work.
