Job Description



The Satellite Electrical Engineer is the Government representative responsible for the electrical design of the spacecraft and satellite system as well as their interfaces.  The primary function of the Satellite Electrical Engineer is to ensure that the spacecraft/bus and satellite perform as required and any risks, issues, non-compliances associated with the system’s electrical performance are understood, documented, and coordinated as necessary.


  • Maintain a thorough and up to date understanding of the spacecraft (including components, requirements, and interfaces) and satellite electrical design, models, analyses, etc.
  • Maintain a though and up to date understanding of the spacecraft instruments (including components, requirements, and interfaces) and instrument electrical design, models, analyses, etc.
  • Provide timely and thorough documentation production and review.
  • Oversee the electrical design effort of the spacecraft and instrument vendors.
  • Requirements definition, flow-down, and verification for power, harness, electrical systems, and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
  • Electrical systems engineering efforts during design, assembly, integration and test
  • Conduct/Manage spacecraft-level verification and validation of Level 3 (and lower level) spacecraft and spacecraft component electrical requirements.
  • Support weekly and monthly status meeting with the spacecraft vendor.
  • Conduct routine coordination with the spacecraft vendor electrical lead. 



  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with development of satellite electrical systems.
  • Experience in coordinating stakeholder teams to define engineering interfaces and technical processes.
  • Experience with mission readiness preparation and post-launch operations • Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools.
  • Experience in system and schedule integration. 
  • Candidate must have knowledge of NASA engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
