Job Description

Description

Would you like to work side-by-side with world class system engineers, acquisition professionals and domain experts in a government-contractor team delivering best of breed software applications that have direct impact on national security?

SAIC is seeking an Agile Systems Engineer to support SAIC’s Prime Program, Landmark AOS in Chantilly, VA. Landmark AOS is a large SETA program, supporting the NRO’s Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED), responsible for the acquisition of systems over the complete end-to-end life cycle.

As Agile Systems Engineer, you will exhibit flexibility in task execution, provide technical/professional expertise on a variety of Agile Systems Engineering topics (e.g., schedule management, requirements, readiness, verification and validation, etc.), and advise the government on program office activities to enable end-to-end closure for programs.

Job Responsibilities to include:

  • Serve as the technical expert for the development, maintenance, and assessment of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) in support of Agile software acquisition activities.
  • Interact with Government project management and functional managers to define scope of work for projects, and develop and update detailed schedules and roadmaps.
  • Proactively develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules throughout the acquisition lifecycle, from initiation through planning, execution, and delivery phases.
  • Integrate developer schedules to generate and maintain an accurate Organization-level master schedule.
  • Coordinate project level impact analyses of proposed engineering changes.
  • Evaluate project schedule progress and performance, identify any variances, and highlight developing problem areas.
  • Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-arounds.
  • Support Agile quarterly cyclic planning and delivery cadence for the program office.
  • Contribute to Agile process evolution across Government teams, development contractors, user engagement teams, and stakeholders based upon best practices for schedule management and Agile program management.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Relevant experience to be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
  • Proficiency using Jira/BigPicture and Microsoft Project to organize, implement and maintain roadmaps and schedules for multiple program technical branches.
  • Ability to identify schedule slips and resource constraints, track metrics against schedule baselines, and provide recommendations to maintain schedule integrity and viability.
  • Experience with agile methods (Scrum, SAFe) in a software development environment or formal agile training.
  • Ability to apply organizational, planning, management, problem solving & execution skills to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to prepare and present various types of reports to all levels of Management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capability and success working in team environments.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
