SAIC is seeking a Product Owner to manage both the Joint Range Extension (JRE) software and hardware paths with the respective software, production, and Program Management (PM) teams. JRE is a combat proven datalink gateway that extends the reach of tactical data across the battlespace and around the globe. JRE hardware platforms provide varying levels of IO to fit the customer need and environment.

 As Product Owner, you will coordinate with the software development team, JICO’s, Program Managers, leadership, Mechanical Engineering, and Test to develop the vision for JRE to meet the needs of future warfighters. This process will include evaluation of initiatives to capture key business in the tactical data link market space, as well as integration of internal technical initiatives to improve JRE sustainability.  As requirements are gathered, you will be responsible for defining solutions and timeframes for execution while working with the other teams.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Work with stakeholders to define and evolve the JRE product vision and strategy:
    • Balance customer and business needs with development constraints when determining prioritization and strategy.
    • Balance new opportunities and features with sustainment of existing customers, contracts, maintenance of existing product and features.
    • Maintain a living product vision and strategy description document to socialize direction to stakeholders.
  • Lead product discovery efforts to increase the efficient use of our development and QA resources:
    • Collaborate with the technical and sales teams to develop customer use cases.
    • Collaborate with the technical team to develop storyboards and code-less prototypes.
    • Collaborate with the development team to develop rapid prototypes or support demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with sales to identify customer, market, and competitor trends.
  • Manage the product portfolio, deciding which products should be created, improved, sustained, or sunset.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to:
    • Align the product's functional vision and strategy with the product's technical and non-functional vision and strategy.
    • Work with the software manager to allocate resources to manage technical debt and its impact on planned product development.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog items (that includes customer-facing and internal technical initiatives) to realize the product strategy and vision.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Five years working with software development and related hardware and sales teams in a project context.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance after start.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with sales and software development teams.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and the definition of a Product Owner.
  • Familiarity with Link 16 and/or Link 16 related products.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Tactical Data Link application and use in the DoD.
  • Certification as either:  Professional Scrum Product Owner II (Scrum), or Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (Scrum Alliance) or Registered Product Owner (Scrum Inc).
  • Experience interfacing with related teams to develop a superior software and/or hardware product/solution.
  • Experience working with program managers to develop technical proposals.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
