Description
This position requires the Engineer to provide expertise in the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. The candidate needs to have broad knowledge of engineering procedures and provides expertise in the application of state-of-the-art technology to meet mission requirements. The candidate shall provide technical engineering support for the design & development, testing, integration, transition and maintenance of components and equipment into a FAA system environment. Support activities may include all aspects of program management support, administrative support, system engineering support, software engineering support, safety management support, testing support and implementation support.
Qualifications
The job requires technical and operational support to maintain En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) in the following main tasks: Safety, testing, documentation, evaluation and subject matter expertise.
The candidate must support all aspects of the implementation of the Safety Management System activities across all Programs involving measures to mitigate hazards or reduce risk to an acceptable level, verification that mitigation measures are incorporated into product design and implementation, and assessment of residual risk and any other safety related activities.
Coordinating with other safety entities within & out of the FAA to facilitate review & development of plans, analyses & documentation as required, assisting it along the approval chain, applying SMS knowledge & techniques as required, assist the ERAM Safety Lead in audits of ERAM, support the Lead Senior Safety POC in tasks of meeting preparation, conduct and results writing, keeping a library of safety documentation complete, up to date and accurate, assist in audits as required, and provides engineering support to the SRM Panel and other safety activities as needed.
In addition, the candidate must have the ability for the following:
Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or related field required and 5+ years’ experience. Master of Science in engineering with 2 years of experience, or an Associate in Applied Science degree in engineering with 10 years of relevant experience may be considered.
US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
