SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to gather, analyze, and compose technical documentation, policy, and other artifacts. The Technical Writer conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology. Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Supports the development of all types of documents and reports by developing and updating graphics presentations to improve the quality and enhance the usability of these documents. This position is in Chantilly, VA.

**This contract is expected to be awarded in Summer 2025.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gathering information, interviewing subject matter experts, and conducting other research to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
  • Composing technical documentation including, Knowledge Articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user's manuals, governance and control gates documentation, training materials, installation guides, and reports.
  • Editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user’s manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documentation.
  • Conducting research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Organizing material and completing writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Managing the schedule, assignments, and meetings associated with all narratives and submissions.
  • Establishing the overall organizational layout and editorial standards of the submissions.
  • Working with the PMO to develop a consistent, uniform style and language.
  • Develops content for technical publications and writes or edits hardcopy and online documents. Ensures content is readable, accurate, and compliant with stated requirements.
  • Interviews and builds relationships with technical SMEs and converts technical content to internal standards without changing the meaning.
  • Manages updates and revisions to reports, presentations, and technical documents.
  • Supports quality control activities required to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of each publication.
  • Ensures documentation complies with all applicable specifications, standards, and other project constraints.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience. (Confirm years with LCAT).

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a technical writer/editor.
  • 5+ years’ experience organizing and coordinating the activities required to produce technical. documentation with technical experts working across multiple teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable researching various enterprise IT related technologies.

Desired Experience:

  • Expertise using Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, and MS Office Suite.
  • Adapts easily to a dynamic and fast paced environment.
