Description

SAIC is looking for a Software Engineer to support the Common Control Systems (CCS) team. In this role, you will write software to control and monitor Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV).  This work may relate to the UI, services, deployment or build pipeline.  In addition, you may be required to travel to installation or test locations. This is an onsite role located in San Diego, CA. Must be local to area and okay with up to 10% of travel.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with other engineers and product owners to analyze, design, and implement user stories using an agile SCRUM methodology.
  • Design, code and test scalable and reliable software solutions using Python, Typescript and JavaScript technologies and frameworks.
  • Deploy and orchestrate service containers using Docker.
  • Maintain automated CI/CD pipelines integrated with automated testing, code quality, and security scans.
  • Support integration and test exercises (remote or onsite) to investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis and resolution.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or 4-6 years of experience as a Software Engineer in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications.
  • In-depth experience in two or more of: Python, Python venv, asyncio, Typescript, JavaScript, Angular, ReactJS, css, HTML, DOM, Multicast, Linux.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with messaging systems or concepts like publish/subscribe or DDS.
  • Experience with Unmanned vehicles, UCSMDE, UMAA, IDL, or robotics.
  • Experience with Docker: creating Docker images, pushing Docker images to container registry, orchestrating Docker containers.
  • Experience with CI/CD principles and tools such as GitLab, GitLab pipelines, GitLab runner, pip, pypi, NPM.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
