Description
SAIC is seeking a System Safety Engineer to provide technical support to a government customer at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
•Develop and maintain a program-by-program set of tailored range safety requirements.
•Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle (SV) program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) plans, procedures and safety documentation (MSPSP, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Reports, etc.) for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements.
•Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements.
•Support program status meetings and attend working groups, as required.
•Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to SV arrival and hazardous operations.
•Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all SV pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated.
•Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to SV program.
•Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to SV programs and associated processing activities.
•Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; with min nine (9) years of experience or min. five (5) years of experience with Masters’ Degree.
•Master’s degree in engineering highly desired.
•7+ years launch system safety experience.
•Level I and II Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program.
