SAIC needs a Material Planner/Control Tech III to support our Joint Range Extension (JRE) Products Integration Group. The Material Planner/Control Tech III will serve as a liaison between the company and external suppliers, reporting directly to Sr. Logistics Analyst. The primary duties and daily task will be spent making calls, sending emails to suppliers, obtaining quotes, entering data, researching new suppliers, and reviewing/negotiating pricing with said quotes. This role will be onsite in San Diego, CA.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Generation of new Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) for JRE Products.
  • Providing assessment and cost analysis against Basis of Estimates (BOE’s), currently in the JRE catalog offerings to determine if BOE’s need to be updated, repriced and resubmitted.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage shifting priorities.
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production or vendor problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
  • Identify any End of Life (EOL) material and bring to the attention of Engineering Dept.
  • Will verify supplier, distributor or potential material sources are listed in the SAIC Approved Vendor List (AVL).

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma and five (5) years or more related experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Logistics experience in industry or Government supporting manufacturing, electronic/electrical installation, upgrade, and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Ability to read, follow and understand Manufacturing Drawings, including Top Assembly and Sub Assembly detailed drawings.
  • Familiarity with the structure of a Bill of Materials for fabrication.
  • Ensuring the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics’ processes. 
  • Experience generating work products and utilizing functions in Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel).
  • Logistics experience in industry or Government supporting the acquisition, distribution of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Experience with Cost Point a plus to research previous Purchase Order.
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Materials background and excellent record keeping skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • To be organized, detail oriented, a self-starter, demonstrate strong time management skills, and be able to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Costpoint Experience (Parts Master File, Purchase Requisition and Bill of Materials).
  • Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks daily.

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
