SAIC is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI area.  

As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping streamline and continue to develop and automate our core IaC code. This position requires expertise in Cloud Engineering Development and as well as familiarity with Platform Engineering and Operations.

The ideal candidate will be self-directed, detail-oriented, motivated, empowered, comfortable with being uncomfortable, a coach, and a critical thinker.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, plan, integrate new solutions with an operationally sound approach with a focus on key DevSecOps best practices as they relate to Cloud engineering.
  • Provide specific, operationally focused system engineering detailed documentation for supporting the SAIC Cloud customers as needed. 
  • This activity includes supporting and implementing best practices like establishing RunBooks and extends to writing a Concept of Operations, process documentation, architecture diagrams, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continually support the design, deploy, and management of cloud-based and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize development, operations, service delivery, and customer satisfaction, leveraging data-driven insights and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements in all platform operations activities, implementing robust security controls and conducting regular audits.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, incidents, and problems through effective incident and problem management processes, driving root cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement automation and orchestration opportunities to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud-native technologies and operations management, applying relevant advancements to enhance development efforts and reduce long term operational impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's and nine (9) years or more experience; Master's and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience); four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, adapting to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth and promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Strong experience in Cloud Engineering with a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and services.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a data-driven and analytical approach to decision-making.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in incident management, problem management, and change management processes, driving efficient and effective resolution of issues.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, SAFe or other modern software development methods/practices.
  • Experience supporting software development project efforts.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the capabilities of Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and DevSecOps principles.
  • Capable of obtaining an 8570 IAT Lvl II or higher certification within 30 days of hire.

Clearance:

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a full Secret clearance.
