SAIC is seeking a CAD Operator  to join our Middletown, RI team who will be responsible for providing drafting support to complete complex assembly models and drawings.

Candidate will be an integral part of the team creating/updating Technical Data Packages; being familiar with ASME standards, Technical Data Packages, and MIL-STD desired. The CAD Operator / Drafter will coordinate frequently with the electrical and mechanical engineering teams for current assignments to meet the customer demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide drafting support to complete large complex parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software and/or AutoCAD 2D for Technical Data Packages (TDP).
  • Provide drafting support for electrical schematic and cable drawings using a schematic capture tool.
  • Create/modify solid models and assemblies and maintain configuration management of engineering drawings.
  • Tasking will include participating in design meetings and implementing documentation changes from redlines.
  • Work with engineers, technicians, and other draftsmen to produce drawings that meet their design specifications.
  • Candidate must display a strong attention to detail, be able to work within deadlines, and be capable of working within a large design team.

Qualifications

  • AA Degree in related discipline and two years related experience; or High School and four (4) years of related experience with relevant certification.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance.
  • Experience designing with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in OrCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, PADS and/or Altium preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio).
  • Ability to read and interpret redlines in an engineering drawing with minimal support.
  • Understanding of basic electrical/mechanical principles of design.
