Description

Lead our DevOps team and oversee the design, implementation, and management of our DevOps processes and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing our deployment strategies, improving our CI/CD pipeline, and guiding the team to achieve operational excellence. You will ensure that our development and operational strategies are aligned and executed effectively to support high-quality software releases.

This position is contingent on funding and will be located in Arlington, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the DevOps team, setting objectives, reviewing performances, and facilitating growth and training
  • Oversee the development and operation of our CI/CD pipeline, including tool selection, maintenance, and optimization
  • Design, implement, and manage DevOps processes and strategies for cloud infrastructure, software development, and deployment
  • Drive automation within the development process to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, QA, Operations) to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software
  • Develop and track key metrics to continuously assess the effectiveness and quality of DevOps practices and infrastructure
  • Ensure security best practices are incorporated into infrastructure development and deployment processes
  • Maintain a release management calendar for core services, ensuring alignment across key partners and vendors
  • Anticipate challenges and mitigate risks related to deployment and operational issues
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to the DevOps team, including guidance in system troubleshooting and support
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity within the DevOps team

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, systems administration, and/or related areas
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing and scaling DevOps teams
  • Expertise in implementing and managing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong background in cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby
  • Demonstrable experience with automated testing and monitoring tools
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and database management
  • Excellent project management skills, including agile methodologies and sprint planning
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of building strong, collaborative team environments
  • Relevant industry certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Administrator, etc.) are a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position may require on-call availability
  • Participation in disaster recovery drills and activities
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site system maintenance and troubleshooting

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be a clearable U.S. Citizen, and currently hold a SECRET clearance
