JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the SAIC Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Software Assurance and IT Services team, selected candidate will provide overall IT Site Support for the team who supports the SMA Directorate at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). The candidate will be responsible for daily IT operations support related to personal computers, related systems in a Microsoft Windows environment, VPN solution, and facilities support at the NASA Parkway, Houston location.
Primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide day-to-day technical support for the computers and peripherals assigned to SMAEC personnel located at SAIC site and at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This task will include, but not be limited to the following:
1. Desktop Support. Responsible to provide technical support for the local SMAEC community. These responsibilities will include:
· Provide day-to-day desktop/laptop support, working with end users to assess technical issues and implement solutions, and obtain assistance from additional service providers when appropriate. This support may be with users working remotely.
· Installation, configuration and maintenance of computer software.
· Assist in maintaining system security in the desktop environment.
· Assist in response to security threats.
· Assist in facilitating scheduled SMAEC computer refreshes and configuring computers for users.
· Represent SMA at related working-group meetings and customer forums.
· Monitor/assess NASA JSC Information Resources Directorate rollouts of new technologies and/or upgrades to the desktop environment for potential impacts to the SMA workforce.
2. Other duties as assigned. As a member of the SAIC team, these duties will include but not be limited to:
· Meeting and special event support.
· Facility-related support.
· Support site meeting set up and AV needs.
· Assist in Property management.
Candidate must be able to work with little instructions on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments and must be able to develop and maintain personal work plans and schedules. The ability to work closely with others in a team environment is highly required.
Candidate must live in close proximity to the SAIC facility and have the ability to provide site support on an as needed basis for all IT and facility needs.
Qualifications
Required Education
A college degree or equivalent and 1-3 years of related experience is required. Additional experience may be substituted for degree.
Required Skills
Candidate must have a competent level of proficiency with the following software/technologies:
· Microsoft Windows operating systems
· Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Comprehensive knowledge in Information Technology service delivery and desktop support
Desired Skills
Experience in the NASA Johnson Space Center IT environment and familiarity with OCIO Directorate policies, procedures, and systems is highly desirable.
