Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support a program within the SAIC Advanced Battle Management Systems (ABMS) portfolio for the United States Air Force. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large, complex system of systems design, development, and integration projects.
The Systems Engineer candidate will serve as the technical authority for the program. Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system and architecture alternatives to inform customer investment decisions/recommendations. Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to define system functions and develop functional and performance requirements. Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to develop architectural views using DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML). Analyze MBSE models to derive mission threads and use cases to aid in system-level verification planning. Lead subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process of developing and coordinating system level specifications. Identify proposed changes to technical baseline documents (i.e., interface documents, specifications documents, architecture products). Prepare and present engineering analysis, gaps, and recommendations to senior leadership and/or design reviews. Prepare system and design review packages. Develop and implement metrics to measure product quality and development performance.
Daily responsibilities may include:
Serving as the Technical decision maker for a large development team as the Chief Engineer of the program. Program may include both cloud/software development, hardware development integration, full life cycle engineering, production, and sustainment, consortium thought leadership.
The successful Chief Engineer works closely with the customer, Project Lead Engineers, Chief Architect, and program manager to deliver solutions to the customer in a timely manner. The candidate is expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.
Responsibilities include:
- Technical roadmap development
- Direction of technical engineering teams
- Set objectives for engineering design releases
- Lead reviewer for technical artifacts
- Plan, review, and host design reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.
- Lead engineering change control boards
- Lead technical review boards
- Serve as POC for customer engineering teams
Qualifications
Bachelors and eighteen (18) years or more experience; or Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience; PhD and twelve (12) years or more experience.
Chief Engineer or Technical lead position on a DoD Acquisition Program.
Hosting formal technical design reviews.
Advanced knowledge and experience in system development, test, and sustainment.
Experience defining system architecture.
Expertise in microservice architecture, web services, and Application Programming Interfaces.
Expertise in hardware integration, testing, and certification.
Expertise in agile software development practices.
Expertise in managing internal and external teams.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with minimal direction, and has demonstrated collaborative skills.
U.S. Citizenship and Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
