Description

 The Technical Editing & Communications Support in Washington, DC will provide Diplomatic Technology's (DT) Strategic Planning Division with communications support.

A majority of this role is work from home, but can be called into the onsite for meetings or other customer requirements.  Some support may be needed off-site for conferences or meetings, although no travel outside the Washington DC region will be required. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Being provided technical direction by the Strategic Planning (SPD) Office’s Division Chief, develops and maintains communication outreach program for SPD.         
  • Formulate, implement, and maintain communication outreach program initiatives to educate the workforce on DT related FAM/FAH policy development, legislative compliance, and records management activities.       
  • Create strategy to educate workforce of proposed and ongoing efforts to drive efficiency, new initiatives, standardize IT concepts and/or revise existing standards.         
  • Develop and/or update communication outreach SOPs and other related processes and procedures.
  • Conduct research, conduct or participate in required surveys, perform analysis, extract pertinent information and develop reports, as required.       
  • Coordinate and participate with internal and/or external entities to assist in moving projects and activities forward using various communication platforms.        
  • Partner with the office of Strategic Communication to inform workforce of new policy, policy changes, and other activities as it relates to DT strategy.        
  • Assist with the quality control process to improve the clearance process by developing improved communication and collaborative systems.        
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and deploy solutions using underutilized O365 collaboration tools to increase process efficiencies.        
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.        
  • Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills with internal and external entities.       
  • Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders across DT and other relevant departments to align communication strategies with ongoing projects and gather input for policy and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare written materials such as fact sheets, talking points, presentations, newsletters, and digital content to support internal and external communications.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years experience; Master's degree and 4 years experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to take accurate notes during fast-paced meetings.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize and deliver high-quality, accurate work within targeted deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Proficiency with e-mail programs and Internet search engine.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 SharePoint collaboration software to include end user and site creation/manager functions.
  • Previous experience and in a professional office setting is required.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and effectively manage shifting responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in all communications, reports, and documentation.

Required Clearance:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance prior to starting work.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
