Description

SAIC is seeking a Database Engineer with an Active Secret Clearance to join our team in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). 

This position is 100% work from home.

Job Duties:

  • Managing the entire lifecycle of Microsoft SQL Server from install, required updates, to maintenance (performance monitoring, security, backups, ongoing maintenance).
    • Database design, implementation, and maintenance: DBAs help design, implement, and maintain MS SQL instances and databases.
    • Support customers with specific requirements and support.
  • Daily monitoring of database backups and alerts with use of tools like SSMS.
    • Create and maintain database backups.
    • Restoring databases as needed.
    • Investigate and resolve security alerts.
  • Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
    • Implementation of guides for new instances and databases.
    • Regular auditing to ensure adherence to guides.
    • Application of updated guides as needed.
  • Creating and updating database documentation.
    • Updating existing configuration documentation.
    • Generating updated database dictionaries.
    • Updating system documentation relating to database installation and maintenance.
  • Provide support to development teams in database-related matters.
    • Work with developers in implementing engineering change proposals (ECPs) relating to database to include but not limited to: Stored Procedure development, Table design, complex query design and optimization.
  • Automate recurring database tasks.
  • Implement and oversee database security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Monitor database performance and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal system efficiency

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree and five (5) year of relevant experience; Masters and three (3) years of relevant experience; 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Security Clearance: 

  • Active Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).

Required Skills:

  • Expert degree of experience in SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL programming and scripting is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention issues.
  • Full understanding of the flow down of Interface Design Documents to Database Data Definitions.
  • Self-reliant to learn and understand new technologies and new features of existing technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
