SAIC is looking for an experienced Communications Director/Senior Manager with a talent for engaging employees, building reputation, and thinking outside the box. The candidate must be eager to tackle the challenges of developing content that helps build on SAIC’s culture, engage employees, and create brand affinity, while partnering with PR and Marketing to translate external brand campaigns, internally. Ideal candidates will be skilled at creating content that both engages employees and keeps them informed about strategic and relevant business decisions. 

Primary areas of responsibility include creating compelling content for strategic initiatives, executive leadership team messaging, as well as messaging to drive organizational change and implementation of new technologies and programs with the goal to reach and engage a workforce located across the country in multiple offices and client sites.

In this role, the candidate will become a trusted advisor to all areas of the organization, with a focus on fostering the company’s culture and advancing communications approaches. The environment at SAIC is fast-paced and dynamic and candidate must regularly try to extend the limits of what is possible.

The successful candidate will:

  • Translate complex business concepts into clear, articulate, and compelling mediums to engage and inform employees.
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to create and execute communications plans that accomplish desired goals, actions, and employee engagement. These plans would include strategies and communication methods to reach a variety of audiences.
  • Influence leaders and stakeholders to use innovative, different ways to communicate to employees – ensuring that project goals are met while capturing the attention of employees to achieve desired actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather information to write and create internal employee communications that deliver against SAIC’s goals of engaging, inspiring and empowering employees and managers. This includes developing communications strategies, creating and posting content on internal web sites, developing and designing creative communications deliverables, writing emails to be disseminated company-wide, producing videos, creating presentations and toolkits, and writing articles.
  • Support development and improvements of standard enterprise communication channels (executive emails/speeches, e-Newsletters, leadership and all employee webinars, internal web site, communications app, etc.).
  • Use storytelling to inspire employees and highlight business priorities.
  • Partner and work closely with SAIC’s Corporate Marketing & External Communications team to create and implement communications strategies and plans to effectively engage employees to raise awareness of external messaging.
  • This position reports to the Chief Communications Officer.
  • This role can be hybrid with sometime in the SAIC corporate office in Reston, Virginia.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and executing detailed and complex communications plans related to strategic initiatives, enhancing company culture, transforming business processes and implementing technologies.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills and proven track record in various writing styles; a solid command of grammar, style, proofreading and editing techniques a must. 
  • Aptitude for translating complex topics and issues into simple, understandable, and visual messages.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to think critically to resolve problems with creative and effective solutions, and also demonstrate initiative and innovation in their work and prove to be results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability with conducting stakeholder assessments to inform the resources, communications and planning for a change initiative.
  • Must be able to develop relationships within the organization to become a trusted advisor.
  • Customer service mindset with the ability to successfully work with and influence senior leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience working as government consultant, a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Design, or relevant field and six (6) years or more of related experience; or master’s degree and 18 years or more experience.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have high standards and be committed to delivering high quality communications.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must be able to demonstrate speed, flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Writing samples must be provided by all candidates who are selected to interview for this position.

Target salary range: $200,001 - $240,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
