Description
SAIC is seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Optometrist with research expertise on laser eye effects and visual psychophysics to support a vibrant research program aimed at enhancing the survivability of military personnel by enabling them to counter optical threats while exploiting optical systems to enhance their survivability, resiliency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
You will work in a team environment, collaborating with US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and SAIC scientists on projects investigating the biological effects of laser exposure, vision science, human factors, and safety engineering.
You will lead research efforts on the effects of intense light sources on human perception and performance, in relation to laser visual effects and laser protection technologies in the military environment.
You will participate in all phases of research involving human subjects from experimental design, laboratory instrumentation, data collection, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation, and serve in roles as an associate or principal investigator.
Qualifications
Doctor of Optometry and PhD in vision science or a related discipline & 9+ years of related experience.
Demonstrated track record of published research in laser vision effects.
Experience in a defense biomedical research environment.
Experience in preparing and executing human subjects' research protocols.
Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
