Description

SAIC is seeking a Geospatial Server Administrator for the Esri and Army Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS-A) system in Wiesbaden, Germany. The candidate is responsible for the deployment, configuration, management, and maintenance of geospatial data servers within the DCGS-A environment.  The role requires an individual with a deep understanding of geospatial data systems, server administration, and the specific requirements and challenges associated with military intelligence operations.

Job Duties:

    Server Management:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain geospatial servers to support Army DCGS-A operations.
  • Monitor server performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Perform routine server maintenance and apply patches and updates.

    Geospatial Data Management:

  • Manage the ingestion, processing, storage, and distribution of geospatial data.
  • Develop and implement data backup and recovery strategies.

    Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and manage security measures to protect geospatial data and server infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with Army and DoD security policies and standards
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits

   Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support to users and troubleshoot server and data issues.
  • Collaborate with other IT and geospatial teams to resolve complex problems.
  • Document issues and solutions for future reference.

    System Integration and Development:

  • Work with analysts to integrate new tools and capabilities into the geospatial server environment.
  • Test and validate new system features and functionalities.
  • Participate in the development of scripts and automation tools to streamline server management tasks.

    Training and Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and user guides.
  • Train military personnel and other users on the effective use of geospatial servers and data.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and (9) nine years of experience; 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Prior experience working with Army DCGS-A or similar military intelligence systems is highly desirable.

Required Security Clearance:

  • Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
  • Experience with geospatial data formats and software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL)
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL,/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation tasks.

Required Certifications:

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator) are preferred.
  • GIS certifications (e.g., Esri Technical Certification) are a plus.
