 SAIC is seeking an Electronics Technician I (SCA) to perform hardware inspection, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair services on various Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) platforms for our Tactical Networks (TACNET) Technical and Production Support Program. This role will be onsite in Norfolk, VA. The Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services program is the Navy’s next generation tactical afloat network. CANES represents the consolidation and enhancement of five shipboard legacy network programs to provide the common computing environment for more than 40 command, control, intelligence and logistics applications. 

 JOB DUTIES:

  • The successful candidate will support Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in both sustainment and modernization of the United States Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems.
  • Follow/read various technical documentation (Drawing packages, Data sheets, Test Procedures).
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace network and power cables.
  • Install and de-install equipment and components.
  • Perform minor OEM/firmware software installation.
  • Work under close supervision of higher-level technician.
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of customer requirements.
  • Generate various daily, travel, technical/inspection, and after action reports.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Active SECRET Clearance.
  • Must have a High School Degree or GED and Two (2) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout.
  • Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communication or four (4) year electronics apprenticeship program.
  • Formal electronics training to include: installation tasks, soldering, cable dressing, cable tray, conduit, and making/repairing connectors.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. 
  • Effective communicator with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt in high-paced, dynamic work environment and manage shifting priorities.
  • Basic computer skills: Outlook, Excel, MS Word.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with US Navy networks, equipment, and shipboard environments.
  • Current CompTIA A+ and OSHA 10-Maritime Certification is a plus.
