Accelerate your career and make a difference for national security in Space by leading a team of industry professionals and experts that will architect and build a cloud-based software factory in support of Space Development Agency’s Battle Management Command, Control and Communication (BMC3) Program. The system that you and your team will create will establish the capability to securely and rapidly field mission applications developed by BMC3 ecosystem participants for space vehicle platforms in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives. This position will provide you with exposure to advanced security and automation practices, as well as the opportunity to work with highly skilled engineers and architects. Additionally, you will have the chance to mentor junior developers and leverage your leadership abilities. SAIC is seeking a Chief Software Engineer to lead team of software engineers to develop secure middle middleware layer (SIL) that will enable the rapid development and deployment of software capabilities to space vehicles. This is key technical role on a fast paced highly innovative SDA project with the development of a cloud-based software factory for the BMC3 program. This position is primary remote.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Work in a remote team environment and lead software engineers, test engineers, systems engineers, and other subject matter experts.
Integrate the SIL with space vehicle hardware from multiple vendors to leverage CPU, GPU, and FPGA resources.
Abstract space vehicle hardware away from mission application developers enabling a single development and deployment target regardless of underlying hardware.
Develop and design the SIL's core capabilities and services that enable secure, standardized, and efficient command, control, and communications for applications in space.
Qualifications
Must have at least 18 years of experience with a BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical degree, preferred a master’s with 18 years of related experience.
Must have a Top Secret Clearance ability to obtain SCI.
8+ years in embedded systems.
Experience and knowledge with programming distributed systems in C, C++, GoLang, and Python (Verilog nice to have).
Experience with engineering and releasing embedded systems on Linux especially with regard to enabling devices as high-performance local compute.
Strong CS and software engineering fundamentals.
Experience working with GCP, Kubernetes, K3S, Docker, and cloud native architecture.
Experience of being part of an Agile environment.
Strong skills in real time communication protocols (socket protocols, semaphores, mutexes, REST, HTTPS, WebSocket).
Strong skills in secure boot operations and Trusted Execution Environments.
Familiarity with standard hardware protocols (JTAG, UART, USB, HDMI, etc.).
Bash, Python, or other scripting languages.
Basic understanding in computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning.
Strong experience in IoT Gateway and Device Firmware development.
Knowledge of End-to-end security for IoT security spanning across edge layer security, application, transport, network, cloud and infrastructure security controls, data privacy and protection controls.
Knowledge and awareness on IoT gateway products, switches, sensors, and other devices.
Should have a general understanding of device types and cloud services, including data storage options, data analysis, data processing, AI.
Code versioning tools like Git/SVN & CI/CD pipelines and Project management tools like JIRA and other agile methodology.
Familiarity with different design and architectural patterns.
Test, debug and troubleshoot the code and fixing errors for required functionality.
Good analytical skills in test and debug of firmware modules.
Experience with Cloud platforms like AWS or Azure or Google Cloud Platform and their services for device connectivity.
Experience working with MCU/MPU/low power devices (FPGA), and familiarity with ARM Cortex-*
Experience with OpenCL.
