SAIC is seeking detailed oriented candidates to support the Chief Modeling and Simulation Office Standards Cross Functional Team.  This individual will provide oversight and stewardship of M&S Technical Standards to enable seamless integration of architectures.

(Position location can be Orlando, FL; Dayton, OH or Washington DC)

Candidates will provide strategic assessment, resource gap, and policies support including:

  • Assist the CMSO’s coordination with organizations across the DAF provide cost, schedule, standards, accreditation, technical, and performance assessments supporting the Department of the Air Force M&S strategy and future DAF Ecosystem evolution and investment. Develop briefings and background papers to identify potential impacts and proposed courses of action.
  • Support Standards Cross Functional Team executing oversight and stewardship of M&S Technical Standards to enable seamless integration of architectures (i.e. - AFSIM) into the DAF M&S Ecosystem.
  • Assist and support CMSO’s efforts to identify and prioritize Department of the Air Force Ecosystem gaps. These efforts will provide information necessary to determine various aspects such as emerging/existing resource/availability/capability gaps, inefficiencies, and ineffectiveness of current efforts within Modeling and Simulation development.
  • Assist and support CMSO’s efforts in the development, integration, propagation, and enforcement of M&S policies, guidance, rules, and standards.
  • Assist with facilitating the integration of best practices via access to M&S related knowledge and resources. Develop processes to identify, define, assess current/ emerging standards for DAF. Nominates, review, and provide recommendations on standards needing to be included in the DoD Information Technology standards Registry and a DAF Standards Profile of approved/recommended standards.
  • Participate in national/international industry standards organizations (SISO, OMG, etc.) to inform development of M&S related standards.
  • Support government lead for the DAF M&S Standards Cross-functional team executing standards related tasks such as development/ curation of DAF M&S standards profile, updates to DAF M&S Standards policy.
  • Provide guidance to the DAF on the use of the M&S Standards Profile.
  • Make recommendations to the CMSO for voting decisions in M&S Standards organizations.
  • Provide DAF representation to DoD, Joint, industry, academic, and foreign partner standards groups.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and nine (9), Master's and seven (7), or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Technical SME with 10+ years of experience working in the area of modeling and simulation technical standards, direct experience working with the Air Force Departmental Standardization Office (AF DepSO) on standardization efforts and with other Services in resolving technical standards and interoperability issues, and direct experience working with non-government standards development organizations (SDO) and international standardization activities to develop and maintain defense, non-government, and international specifications and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving technical standards and interoperability issues.
  • Experience with DAF operations in either the air, space, or cyber domain.
  • Experience with elements of DAF Operational Training and Test Infrastructure (OTTI), such as airspace, ranges, simulators, networking, or Distributed Mission Operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to accomplish DAF-wide initiatives.
  • Experience with HAF-level coordination processes, policy development and strategic communications at a senior level.
  • Knowledge to plan, schedule, conduct and facilitate projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the productivity of operations in a program or support setting.
  • Knowledge in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness or organizational productivity.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting high level briefings, BBPs, and Technical Reports.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature and devise organizational structuring options.
  • Knowledge of M&S enabling technologies and concepts (i.e., infrastructure, networks, data management, imaging generators, information brokers, AR/VR, digital engineering, cloud/on premise constructs, blue/red models’ integration, battlespace management & environment interactions [IR/RF environments], analysis/reporting tools, etc.).


Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
