NASA Data Catalog Developer 

Join SAIC for an exciting opportunity supporting NASA with the development of an enterprise data catalog and data portal in support of the NASA Information and Data Analytics (IDAS) organization within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

Responsibilities:

As the lead developer of the enterprise data catalog, you will be responsible for full lifecycle management of developing, implementing, and operating the government selected data catalog tool, Microsoft Purview.

Develop and implement following catalog capabilities:

• Create a holistic, up-to-date map of the data landscape with automated data discovery, sensitive data classification, and end-to-end data lineage.
  
• Discover data Assets: search for files, tables, dashboards, reports, across entire data sets.
  
• Classification: Ability to create custom and/or automatic classifications that apply to the business needs.
  
• Certification: Allow data stewards to endorse and certify good data assets.
  
• Enterprise Business Glossary: Identification of managing the enterprise definition.
  
• Data Assets ownership and stewardship: All assets will have owners and steward’s, help identify and document who in the organization is responsible for the data sets.
  
• Data Lineage: Ability to
  
  • Create lineage maps between data sources, data manipulation jobs, and reports.
    
  • Create lineage at column/table/systems levels.
    
• Onboard stakeholder organizations and missions engaged through Community of practice (CoP) to data catalog tool.
  
• Develop connections between multiple data sources (Azure, AWS S3, SQL server etc.) and the data catalog. Develop connections between register data sources and the data catalog tool.
  
• Develop and implement an internal data portal (as service management process) for IDAS data owners and data stewards to develop and share data that is relevant to interagency teams.
  
• Implement technical requirements, stemming from policies, processes, procedures, and standards, implemented in government selected systems.
  
• Support the development of documentation and implementation of IDAS data governance model, standards, policies/compliance, procedures and handbooks across engaged stakeholder organizations and missions.

Your Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field.
  
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the Microsoft Purview platform.
  
• Strong understanding of data cataloging concepts, techniques, and tools.
  
• Experience with Microsoft apps and services including; Excel, Word, SharePoint, Forms, OneDrive, and Power Apps.
  
• Sound fundamental knowledge of data systems and structures, including relational database management systems, APIs, flat files, cloud-hosted systems.
  
• Experience working in technical areas including data science, structured data, analytics, SQL.
  
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Qualifications
