SAIC is seeking an organized and motivated Senior Systems Engineer who will work effectively in a fast-paced environment at our customer site in Newport, RI.

Sign on bonus may be considered to assist with relocation expenses for candidates.

Note: This position is a hybrid/flexwork position that will require 1-2 days a week onsite at our customer site in Newport, RI. The amount of remote work may increase once the candidate is fully experienced with the duties required by this role. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will have a hybrid work environment working from home and supporting onsite at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport.  You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring a variety of designs from the early concept stage all the way through fabrication.

You will need broad engineering skillsets, well-developed work habits, and an eagerness and enthusiasm for solving engineering challenges.  Your projects will include concept development, requirements development, design, and analysis, baseline management, architecture development, product evaluation, validation, and verification, decision analysis, and/or system transition planning.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Providing system-level engineering support and expertise to a cross-functional team.
  • Providing preliminary solutions to engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Manage the CSRR System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) I1V4 and associated appendices for all submarine classes.
  • Manage the CSRR System Requirements Verification Matrix (SRVM) for all submarine classes.
  • Support activities related to requirements management, system test & verification, and lab construction for Columbia.
  • Manage the EQT database for both Columbia and Virginia submarine classes.
  • Support the development of the Columbia EQT Compliance Plan.
  • Hardware design and development.
  • Authoring and maintenance of technical documentation, such as Requirements Specifications, Concepts of Operation, Product and Performance Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Compliance Matrices, Qualification Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
  • Development and documentation of engineering processes and standards in support of customer requirements.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) years’ experience in the Systems Engineering field.
  • Experience with the Common Submarine Radio Room preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Warfare, Radio Frequency (RF) and Communications.
  • Experience with Electro-mechanical hardware design and engineering.
  • Experience with the marine environment and naval operations and systems preferred.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently possess an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS Clearance

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
