SAIC’s Rapid Response Proposal Team is a dedicated and agile group of experts assembled to swiftly and effectively address urgent requests for proposals (RFPs) and short turn solicitations. This team excels in tight deadlines and thrives on adaptability. They are adept at swiftly evaluating RFP requirements, formulating innovative solutions, and collaboratively crafting well-structured, persuasive proposals that meet the client's unique needs. They excel at quick-turn, short duration task and contract responses; hands-on writing of technical responses; and supporting technical contract execution. Their ability to efficiently allocate tasks, leverage past experiences, and manage tight schedules positions them as a formidable force in securing time-sensitive contracts and opportunities across various industries.
The Technical Writer on SAIC's Rapid Response Proposal Team plays a vital role within this agile group of experts focused on addressing urgent requests for proposals (RFPs) and short-turn solicitations. This position requires the ability to excel under tight deadlines and demonstrate adaptability in swiftly evaluating RFP requirements, formulating innovative solutions, and collaboratively crafting persuasive proposals tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. The Technical Writer is integral to the team's success in producing high-quality, time-sensitive task and contract responses, with a focus on hands-on writing of technical responses and supporting technical contract execution. This role demands efficient task allocation, utilization of past experiences, and effective schedule management to secure time-sensitive contracts and opportunities across diverse industries.
The most successful candidates will understand how to generate highly scoring proposal responses per government evaluation instructions. They will be self-motivated and will work well independently but in collaboration with others to bring critical content to their work. While not required, the most successful candidates will have a strong understanding of technical concepts and the capacity to translate complex information into clear and persuasive prose.
It is highly desired that the candidate have successful technical order (TO) winning experience with the Department of Veteran Affairs T4NG contract.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Write and edit technically accurate, concise, and persuasive content that aligns with client requirements and industry best practices.
· Coordinate content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines.
· Generate narrative content for proposals and assignments from graphics and SME interviews, validated by technical experts. Convert visual content (e.g., images, illustrations, tables) into text or bullet points.
· Collaborate and interview subject matter experts to gather necessary information and data for proposal content.
· Use SAIC style guides and apply the appropriate style guide to different documents.
· Collaborate with solution and content creators to transform technical and management solutions into customer-facing white papers, proposals, and market research responses.
· Incrementally create, validate, update, and review document content.
· Perform quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and non-technical documents, evaluating document quality based on accuracy, substance, and quality of written content.
· Ensure the clarity, coherence, and quality of written materials, while adhering to established style and formatting guidelines.
· Work under tight deadlines to produce high-quality technical documentation and proposals.
· Assist in the organization and structuring of proposals to present a compelling and coherent narrative.
· Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in proposal writing and technical documentation.
· Assist in reviewing and proofreading proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with RFP requirements.
· Actively contribute to continuous process improvement efforts within the Rapid Response Proposal Team.
· Maintain effective communication and coordination with team members to ensure successful project execution and timely submission of proposals.
· Provide an excellent customer service experience.
· In partnership with solution content generators, gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing service and product functionality.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
· Bachelor's degree; 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
· 10 years of relevant experience
Required Skills:
· Excellent verbal communication, writing and analytical skills
· Experience supporting VA / T4NG Proposals
· Knowledge of Windows 10 and MS Office Suite 365 including Microsoft Teams
· Ability and interest in acquiring advanced MS Word skills/proficiency level
· Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks/projects/writing projects
· The ability to address challenges and find solutions quickly in the context of rapidly changing proposal requirements.
· Superior attention to detail
· Attention to detail and excellent customer service
· Ability to work well in a team environment both in-person and remotely.
· Capable to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Experience providing services to the federal government and/or the Department of Veterans Affairs is preferred
