Supports mission analysis assessments and studies for the Program Office. Coordinates assessments HIVE architecture impacts, architecture trades, and architecture performance assessments with the Enterprise, Chief Architect, Chief Engineer, and Program Office. Manages development, test, and validation of systems assessment methodologies and tools such as STK, SOAP, MATLAB, and potentially organically developed software. Candidate must possess a detailed understanding of government satellite systems, have strong insight into SIGINT mission fundamentals, and ability to perform analysis on complex space systems. The position requires in-depth knowledge of satellite relevancy to Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community unique missions.
Job Duties include:
- Provide expert mission analysis and technical support to define technical spacecraft and ground requirements, support concept development for new capabilities, create models to analyze mission data, understand "end to end" mission performance of a system, and work with mission users, stakeholders, and development contractors
- Perform various mission analyses to include RF, signal processing, lasercom, orbital, geolocation, pointing, antenna, SOI collection, frequency management, and/or communications performance. Evaluate expected performance against mission needs. Track, monitor, analyze and provide recommendations for future mission enhancements
- Assist in requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, and system & operational performance analysis
- Perform assessments of requirements and capabilities to include, but not limited to, geolocation potential, area search/update intervals, signal collection analysis, coverage
- Support end-to-end performance evaluation activities of systems, such as identifying performance differences among baseline, enhanced baseline, and alternate architectures. Perform research and validation of enterprise level requirements as applicable to specific satellite architectures.
- Support system architecting and planning studies, requirements development and verification, and compliance analyses against enterprise level requirements. Performs mission analysis of satellite architectures to determine coverage and other performance metrics
- Provide advice and information on physical science aspects of satellite support to multiple mission domains and battle space awareness planning and mission assessments
- Provide support to launch and satellite on-orbit test. Plan and execute internal and external interface testing to support final system verification, validation, and delivery
- Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other payload and ground system subject matter experts
- Review complex technical design documentation and provide formal and informal feedback
- Liaise with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the acquisition
- Collaborate with armed services and agencies on engineering standards, space frequency utilization, modulation techniques, multiplexing schemes, and mission requirements
- Be familiar with translation of multiple mission domain awareness operational requirements into satellite specifications and provide mission analysis support to legacy, current and future satellite programs
- Prepares reports, white papers, and briefings for senior management and external organizations
- Develop and maintain tools and databases used for related satellite mission assessment activities
Qualifications
Position Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience
- TS/SCI with Poly
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, physics, math
- Solid understanding of Signals Intelligence satellite systems and architectures
- Experience in Matlab, Python or similar
- Experience in NRO, IC, and DoD satellite programs, acquisition and program management processes
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with an ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated sustained superior performance
- Availability to travel domestically
