Job Description


SAIC is looking for a DevSecOps System Engineer. The member will be an integral participant in satellite ground system command and control software requirements development, design analysis, coding, and verification.  Key areas of focus include ground system full life cycle software procurement from requirements identification and development through system test, sell-off delivery, and installation at operating location.  Requires an understanding of DevSecOps concepts, processes, and tools to help plan, define, and implement ground command and control capabilities with modern software factory best practices. 


Job Duties include:

  • Provide leadership in applying DevSecOps concepts, processes, and tools to satellite command and control system development
  • Apply hands-on experience to assist in the implementation, monitoring, and management of development contractor modern software factories
  • Support security accreditation activities for system environments
  • Advise on cloud migration approaches such as re-hosting, re-platforming, or re-factoring
  • Support the development of architecture, CONOPS, requirements, standards, and roadmaps for open software frameworks and applications
  • Support integration and test activities for incorporating multiple modular command and control capabilities into a common framework
  • Develop productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
  • Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding DevSecOps practices
  • Represent the government at developer lead release and sprint planning events; ensuring that the government and stakeholder needs are prioritized
  • Engage with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution


Required Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with poly
  • BS in computer science/engineering, cybersecurity, information technology, or related technical field/related minor
  • 9+ years of software domain experience with a BS degree or 7+ years of software domain experience with an MS degree
  • Experience as DevSecOps engineer or equivalent
  • Experience with CI/CD orchestrator tools e.g., Jenkins, Maven, Ant, or similar
  • Experience with at least one configuration/deployment management system e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible, AWS Cloud Formation, Salt, or other similar tools.
  • Knowledge of Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) specifically regarding key services e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, KMS, CloudFormation, IAM.
  •        Familiarity with Test Automation tools and frameworks:  XUnit, Selenium, Cypress JS, SauceLabs, etc.
  •        Experience with Agile development programs
  •        Self-starter with ability to execute job based on limited guidance/information
  •        Ability to distill complex problems into digestible structures/formats
  •        Flexibility and Time Management - Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with constantly shifting priorities and needs
  •        Effective Communicator - convey information to multiple audiences across all levels of Customer and Corporate management
  •        Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills

Desired Qualifications

  • 14+ years of software domain experience with a BS degree or 12+ years of software domain experience with an MS degree
  •        Certifications such as Certified DevSecOps Professional (CDP), CompTIA Security+, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  •        Agile certification
  •        Working knowledge of the operations of SIGINT and associated scheduling, tasking and/or mission management functions
  •        Experience working within or closely with Acquisition Offices; SETA and/or SE&I experience
  •        Prior ground system experience in on a satellite program (DoD/IC/Commercial)
  •        Specific IC Customer experience
