Description

SAIC is looking for a Space & Terrestrial Network Engineer to be an integral participant in satellite ground system command and control software requirements development, design analysis, coding, and verification.The member will be an integral participant in satellite ground system command and control requirements development, design analysis, production, and verification.  Key areas of focus include space and ground distributed network analysis, design, and development to ensure optimized data transport system performance.  Requires multi-discipline expertise such as networking concepts and technologies, laser communications, satellite mission management, and space/ground communications.

 

Job Duties include:

  •        Analysis, design, and development of space-ground data transport architecture, CONOPs, and specifications
  •        Analysis and requirement definition for incorporating command and control/space data transport into enterprise terrestrial data transport architecture
  •        Space/terrestrial network architecture modeling to support optimized end-to-end solution
  •        Work with delivery team to address architecture, integration, and technical issues, and in some instances lead the technical implementation of the solution architecture
  •        Work with development teams and advise on practical implementations and develop findings and work off plans
  •        Support integration and testing to evaluate functional performance, reliability, and robustness of space/ground network
  •        Develop productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
  •        Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding space/terrestrial network management
  •        Represent the government at developer lead release and sprint planning events; ensuring that the government and stakeholder needs are prioritized
  •        Engage with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution

Qualifications

  •        TS/SCI with poly
  •        BS in electrical/computer engineering, or related technical field
  •        9+ years of domain experience with a BS degree or 7+ years of domain experience with an MS degree
  •        Experience deploying large-scale network solutions
  •        Strong knowledge of all layers of information technology (e.g. OSI model)
  •        Understanding of laser link budget analysis
  •        Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing communication systems
  •        Self-starter with ability to execute job based on limited guidance/information
  •        Ability to distill complex problems into digestible structures/formats
  •        Flexibility and Time Management - Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with constantly shifting priorities and needs
  •        Effective Communicator - convey information to multiple audiences across all levels of Customer and Corporate management
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills

Desired Qualifications

  •        14+ years of domain experience with a BS degree or 12+ years of domain experience with an MS degree
  •        Cisco, Juniper, Arista or other industry certifications
  •        Experience in satellite/ground network simulation development and analysis
  •        Experience with Agile development programs
  •        Working knowledge of planning, scheduling and mission management systems
  •        Working knowledge of the operations of SIGINT and associated scheduling, tasking and/or mission management functions
  •        Working knowledge of SIGINT mission user needs and operational environments
  •        Experience working within or closely with Acquisition Offices; SETA and/or SE&I experience
  •        Prior ground system experience in on a satellite program (DoD/IC/Commercial)
  •        Specific IC Customer experience
