Description
Configuration Management Engineer
Joint Fires Network (JFN) and the Assault Breaker II (AB2) initiatives are designed to realize advanced warfighter architectures, CONOPS and link sensors and weapons platforms in times of critical conflict around the globe.
The position requires an individual with expertise and extensive experience in technical programs, technical program management, agile software development, and specific experience with Configuration Management within a DevSecOps environment.
Contractor support shall improve processing, cybersecurity, hardware and software, exploitation, and BMC2 capabilities across all warfare domains.
The position is based in San Diego, CA at NIWC Pacific.
Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Manage configuration management of system and software applications across development environments and fielded systems for multiple baselines at multiple classification levels.
· Create and maintain all Configuration Management (CM) processes and provide updates and recommendations for process improvement.
· Create, implement, improve, and enforce policies and procedures in support of a Configuration Management in alignment with PoR requirements.
· Ability to work with multiple vendors to create an efficient process for regular software deliveries into a CI/CD pipeline supporting a container-based environment.
· Inquire and review deliveries from our external partners to include but not limited to software, test data, and documentation.
· Generate system baseline media in support of JFN Node installations.
· Assist in documenting and tracking all aspects of system component deployment processes.
· Submits, records, and tracks all aspects of system change requests ensuring proper review and approval via Change Control Board.
· Comprehensive experience implementing configuration management tools such as Artifactory, Jira, Confluence, Git/Version Control, or comparable technologies.
· Knowledge of DevSecOps automation and how proper CM supports a responsive CI/CD pipeline.
· Identify the needs for build automation, designing, and implementing CI/CD solutions, and design action plans to address CI/CD platform/tools/solutions’ shortcomings and difficulties.
· Further design of system dashboards to increase system maintainability and status awareness.
Qualifications
· Us Citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI Clearance
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
· Five (5) or more years managing various System Environments hardware and software components to maintain a known configuration managed posture.
· Experience with US Navy and other DoD Enterprise and Experimental C5I systems and Networks (e.g. CANES, DCGS-N, NIWC PACIFC RDT&E)
· Strong attention to detail with exceptional time management and communication skills
· Excellent writing skills required for preparation of process documentation, deliverables, and other work products.
· Self-starter with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
· Position Requires onsite support in a classified environment.
· Remote work supported only in limited capacity (short duration, NIPR) and with approval of the sponsor.
· Employee will be required to travel in support of distant end installations or break fix actions if they cannot be accomplished remotely. Such travel may be with limited (less than 3 days) notice.
