SAIC is seeking to fill an opening for a Space Enterprise Architect to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) services to an IC customer. The customer organization we support provides the enterprise architecting, analysis, and systems engineering solutions that determine the current and future national space systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work across multiple Directorates and Offices to identify and define future space capability needs
- Frequent interaction with government, SETA, FFRDC, and external stakeholders
- Identify and defining future space capability needs
- Identify key architecture and system level trades
- Develop strategies in support of IC and Department of Defense (DoD) architectures
- Assess the performance of current and future architecture concepts
- Provide technical and programmatic guidance to the architecture and system level requirements process
- Develop architecture models to capture the holistic view of the enterprise
- Prepare briefings for senior decision makers
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder summits, workshops, and technical exchanges between senior government leadership, management teams, and technical teams for national space programs to achieve alignment in program strategic vision and direction, capability management, mission organization design, and solution architecture concept development
- Develop and integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate program and mission strategic concepts to influence solution conceptual designs for cost, schedule, performance, risk, and resilience to disruptive events or threats
- Advise on enterprise architecture landscape, including technology, information, data, security, and integration
- Develop technology strategy and planning deliverables to address risks and technology gaps
- Formulate enterprise architecture solution strategies and roadmaps
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least 14 years of relevant experience with 10 being at the Chantilly IC Customer; Masters and 12 years or more experience; PhD and 9 years or more experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Solid understanding of Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
- Proven experience with technical fundamentals in IC space collectors, command and control, mission control, and mission processing
- Proficiency with architecture tools and frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, UAF)
- Proven experience with the use of architecting across the IC
- Architecture domain understanding from a holistic enterprise perspective
- Ability to recommend space enterprise architecture tradeoffs, impacts, and advancement
- Proven experience in development and use of descriptive modeling for architecture solutions (e.g., building models and diagrams with Cameo EA)
- Experience with lifecycle readiness from enterprise solution architecture concept development through system decommissioning
- Ability to develop project plans, identify high-impact deliverables, and manage schedule commitments
- Experience developing and presenting strategic decision-making and strategic communications artifacts for senior-level management and technical architecture design artifacts for engineering-level reviews
- Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in community forums
- Proven experience using and developing solution architecture frameworks, patterns, and best practices to drive solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline
- Expert-level understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes
- Expert-level proficiency with use of architecting to support senior level enterprise decision making
- Expert in enterprise architecture, strategy development and enterprise solutions
- Experience with IC customer’s Request for Change (RFC) process and the Engineering Review Board process
- Experience in Cameo and SysML applications
- Experience integrating enterprise architecting tools with MODSIM analysis
- Substantive experience in the space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
- Experience, education, training and/or certification in strategic fore sighting practices
- Experience working closely with key customer agencies in the defense and intelligence community, including strong knowledge of their domain and strong professional networks
- Demonstrated knowledge of implementing an Enterprise Architecture framework in a federal Agency/Department
- Prior US military and/or IC customer experience
