Description
SAIC is seeking an R&D Systems Engineer to join our team.
The engineer sought provides Systems Engineering & Technical Advisory (SETA) support services to a USG Program Office leading Research & Development (R&D) of space systems and space-based technology.
The successful candidate will be a results-oriented, self-starter with a willingness to learn and the ability to be an immediate contributor in adaptive and innovative team environments. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills with the ability to foster close working relationships with project officers, industry partners, and SETA colleagues throughout the customer organization.
Responsibilities will include a subset of the following:
- Prepare deliverables including technical and programmatic assessments provided through oral briefings and/or written reports presenting analysis, results, conclusions, and recommendations. Brief USG and industry as requested.
- Provide technical and programmatic support to acquisition planning, source selection, and related programmatic processes including development of acquisition support documents.
- Provide technical review and assessment of R&D satellite or space-based technology concepts, proposals, ground concepts, system architectures, interfaces, and operations.
- Provide technical review of systems integration, validation, verification, and test (IVVT) for space-based systems and technologies. Review IVVT implementation plans and results to assess system integration and closure.
- Advise on issues of applicability and feasibility of relevant technologies to future R&D spacecraft, mission payloads, space-based technology, communication systems, ground systems, launch systems, and operations concepts.
Qualifications
- Active TS clearance with Poly.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM) with 9 years experience, 7 with Masters.
- Desire to actively participate in USG customer enterprise research and learning environment with objectives to create, gather, and share knowledge to grow organizational competency and capability
- Sound understanding of the principles, practices, and methods for systems engineering, integration, validation, verification, and test of systems.
- High quality critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills needed to lead and support team collaboration, group discussion, and oral presentations.
Desired Qualifications - any gaps in the following will be addressed through on-the-job training.
- Technical understanding of systems engineering and integration of satellite systems, mission payloads, ground systems, communication systems, and/or launch systems.
- Experience with design, development, integration and/or operation of R&D space-based systems; includes integration of mission payloads, communications systems, ground systems, launch vehicles, and/or mission operations.
- Basic knowledge of intelligence organizations, disciplines, systems, and processes.
- Ability to travel (5-10%) outside assigned work area.
