SAIC is seeking a talented DevSecOps Architect with extensive experience in Federal software architecture and engineering, Federal cybersecurity compliance requirements, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) business objectives. This person will support the new Technical Office of the Benefits and Memorials (BAM) Portfolio and lead accomplishment of its goals to direct the architecture/engineering of BAM products, implement concepts of DevSecOps, and accomplish faster delivery while maintaining security and safety of government systems and Veteran data. The DevSecOps Architect will serve as a senior advisor to their VA customer counterparts and directly lead efforts to: establish and document architect/design standards; review product architecture/engineering; bring products in compliance with Federal standards, regulations, and laws; and evaluate/assess software products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, document, and lead Portfolio/Product Line adoption of Federal architecture, engineering, and security guidelines and standards 
  • Apply expertise on architecture best practices and cybersecurity requirements to make recommendations on improving the engineering and security of existing software products and achieve “best in class” compliance
  • Review product architecture and engineering specifications to identify opportunities to improve compliance with established standards
  • Review product security posture to identify risks and compliance gaps
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop ideas on how products can better comply with standards, regulations, and laws governing Federal systems
  • Participate in ongoing discussions, documentation changes, and guideline updates as part of a working group comprised of representation from each product line in the Portfolio
  • Participate in a larger working group – the Architecture Review Board – to review technical, architectural, and engineering solutions created by the product lines to deliver business requirements
  • Collaborate with application developers on designing solutions and configurations that align with system architecture best practices.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints
  • Conduct research on problem areas and specific topics
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable VA rules and regulations.
  • Facilitate executive-level virtual meetings; prepare meeting agenda, capture meeting minutes, and track outcomes and action items
  • Work proactively and independently to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Plan, monitor, and control relevant tasks outlined in the contract and statement of work
  • Function as part of an integrated team sharing products, best practices, and information across the portfolio

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in technical field and 5 years leadership of Federal Architecture design and governance standards.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance under the Department of Veteran Affairs regulations 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to build relationships, influence, and support product lines.
  • Expert knowledge of software engineering and architecture best practices, from infrastructure to graphical user interface (GUI), mainframe to cloud hosting, and external to internal networking capabilities
  • Expert knowledge of cybersecurity compliance for Federal systems, including Clinger-Cohen Act, NIST, FIPS, VA 6000, VA 6100, VA 6500, authority to operate (ATO), and Risk Management Frameworks (RMF).
  • Deep knowledge of VA benefits and memorials business objectives
  • Cursory knowledge of VA health business objectives
  • Senior consulting and customer management skills
  • Excellent analytical and evaluative skills in tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent decision-making and problem -solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
