SAIC seeks a highly experienced and energetic Safety Engineer to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and sustainment of ground-based radars critical to US and Allied strategic missile surveillance, warning, defense, and space surveillance missions. In support of the government customer, the SAIC Program Manager, and the Chief Engineer, the PARCS ISS Team Lead is responsible for responsive and coherent planning, development and delivery of AN/FPQ-16 PARCS radar hardware and software modifications in response to change requests and deficiency reports. The Team Lead will continually harmonize PARCS ISS Team efforts with the Systems Engineering Team with other program teams (e.g., Integrated Product Support, Depot Maintenance, etc.). This position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

 Duties include:

  • Lead and Implement Systems Safety analysis activities.
  • Identify and mitigate all potential and existing hazards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Design Teams while learning subsystems and their interactions.
  • Ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and bring potential hazards forward.
  • Assess Engineering documents, data, and artifacts, while working with Engineering Teams to determine the safest and most cost-effective solutions to actual and potential hazards.
  • Gather data from field, factory, and engineering, calculating probability and severity of possible outcome and work with Design teams to influence a safer more robust system.
  • Collaborate with all levels of Engineering and Program Management and Customers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 14+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 5 years safety experience national security, no-fail mission systems
  • Experience with a broad range of system types: custom developed HW/SW, COTS/GOTS HW/SW, and specialty engineering of exotic material/limited supply items

Desired

  • Experience in Systems Safety and/or Systems Engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in aviation safety systems engineering
  • Experience with Mil Standard 882-E

Target salary range: $95,001 - $105,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
