Responsibilities include:

Develop machine learning techniques to analyze histological images of skin thermal damage and determine various degrees of pathology, such as burn degree and damage depth progression.

Organize and manage large volumes of data, including high-resolution image files of histological slides.

Collaborate with experimental biophysicists, biomedical engineers, and pathologists to verity the accuracy of algorithm outputs with respect to conventional data analysis, and ensure developed techniques meet research goals.

Provide regular updates to principle investigators on project progress.

Document results in the form of data archives, annotated code, PowerPoint slides, technical reports, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journal articles.

Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or related field (0-2 years experience).

Experience working with machine learning techniques.

Expertise with MatLab, Python, C++, or other programming environments for algorithm development and data analysis.

Practical knowledge of computer programming tools for batch processing data, including high-performance computing environments.

Ability to independently learn and develop new skills.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Desired skills:

Classwork or practical experience with biomedical research, cell biology, optical physics, biomedical statistics, and image processing.

Experience working with pathology data, specifically images of histology slides processed with H&E staining and accompanying reports.

Familiarity with the anatomy and physiology of skin.
