Description
SAIC is seeking a Space Communications Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services in Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate will provide technical management of multiple projects simultaneously, consisting of long-haul world-wide communication networks, from design to implementation. Compensation estimate $155,000 - $165,000.
Responsibilities include:
§ Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate network issues to other employees and management.
§ Communicate with team to identify needs, monitor performance, and diagnose and resolve issues with network and systems.
§ Provide project management for various network activities, including upgrades, implementations, and migrations, offering technical direction and user support as needed.
§ Create, update, and maintain communications environment documentation and operational procedures.
§ Provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, design, and technologies to deliver mission capabilities.
§ Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level systems architectures to develop system requirements.
§ Perform general program management functions daily, to include milestone/status tracking, inter-organizational coordination; prepare and provide briefings, review/ update classified documentation.
§ Conduct technical reviews and assessments of program development and readiness activities; coordinate recommendations with government stakeholders and supports program status reviews.
§ Identify and communicate system engineering risks, issues, opportunities, assumptions, mitigations, and dependencies.
§ Develop and document assessments, findings, and solutions; build and present briefings in a clear, articulate manner for a variety of audiences.
§ Effectively communicate and collaborate with SETA team members, engineers from various contractors, and government organizations.
Qualifications
Required:
§ US Citizenship
§ Active TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated CI polygraph
§ Contract requirement: Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) field and fourteen (14) years or more relevant experience; Master’s and twelve (12) years or more relevant experience
§ Expertise in network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and DNS
§ Extensive experience with network infrastructure and hardware
§ Proficiency with infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
§ Knowledge of networking protocols such as QoS, 802.11, BGP, IPSEC, OSPF and HRP
§ Experience with TCP/IP or OSI, along with LAN, WAN, VoIP, WLAN and SAN networks
§ Deep knowledge of creating network communication systems
§ Ability to effectively communicate network needs and explain required implementations to associated team members
§ Strong organizational skills, a troubleshooting genius, and an unparalleled attention to detail
§ Knowledge of overall space and ground architecture including ground terminal equipment (satellite antennas), telemetry/tracking/control, and/or mission processing functions
§ Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics
§ Polished communicator (written/verbal); impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment
§ Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder
§ Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS Outlook, MS Project
Desired:
§ OPIR experience a plus
§ Project management tools to include ServiceNow or similar IT ticketing systems
§ Program lifecycle experience from concept development and design to deployment, operations, and maintenance, decommission
§ Experience with mission readiness process, familiar with control gates and associated documentation, entry/exit criteria
§ Familiar with mission operations environment – ops tempo, launch and initialization, performance characterization, utility analysis, system calibrations
§ Experience in requirements definition, analysis and engineering, systems and data architecture, system analysis and design, systems development; validation and verification
§ Experience developing and providing oversight of Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) and detailed program schedules
