Description

SAIC is looking for an Assembly Technician to assist us in support of several programs we currently have and additional ones we are pursuing. This position will be located in Panama City, Florida.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies or sub-assemblies.
  • Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing and welding/fitting on assembly units.
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • May also set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions. 
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. 
  • Some machines may be numerically controlled.  May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Qualifications

Required Education:

AA degree in related discipline and nine (9) years related experience; High School and eleven (11) years related experience with relevant certification

Qualifications:

  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Work independently or with little supervision
  • Utilize hand tools, meters, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Use power tools, drills, saws, etc.
  • Soldering connections
  • Assemble cable harnesses per drawings
  • Possible CONUS & OCONUS travel

Clearance:

Ability to obtain an Interim SECRET security clearance to start and the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance
